Dr. Ron Rescigno, Ed.D., D.H.L., Superintendent
"A Field of Dreams:" Hueneme School District, Port Hueneme, California
Dr. Ron Rescigno is nationally and internationally known for his work in educational technology. As the Superintendent of the Hueneme School District, Port Hueneme, California, he has forged a new concept in school restructuring through the use of computer managed multi-media systems -- i.e. "Smart Classroom" - "Smart School"- "Smart District".
He holds two doctorate degrees: the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters (honoris causa) awarded by Wilkes University of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1989, and the degree of Doctor of Education awarded by the University of Northern Colorado, Greely, Colorado, in 1978, as well as a degree of Master of Arts awarded by Columbia University, New York, New York, in 1967 and his Bachelor of Science degree awarded by Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1958. Dr. Rescigno has traveled extensively to Europe employed as a consultant for educational technology for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
He has been a keynote speaker and delegate to the Third International Conference, Children in the Informative Age, Human Development and Emerging Technologies, Sofia, Bulgaria; responsible for the establishment of an international management seminar and a keynote speaker at the Seminar under the auspices of the Bulgarian Academy of Science; Sofia, Bulgaria; a keynote speaker and delegate for the first United States/Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Joint Conference on Computers, Education, and Children, Moscow, USSR; and as a keynote speaker and delegate to the State of Israel, Ministry of Industry and Trade Seminars, "Computerized Integrated Learning System Development and Implementation", Tel Aviv, Israel.
He has been a keynote speaker at conferences and educational technology seminars throughout the United States. Most recently he was one of the keynote speakers at Digital World Conference in Beverly Hills, California in June 1993. In 1990 he was appointed by the Governor of the State of California as a member of the state's Educational Technology Committee and served as Vice-Chair for two years. The major purpose of this committee was to recommend priorities for public school education technology funding and to advise the State Board of Education, the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the California Planning Commission for Educational Technology regarding the State master plan for educational technology.
